So often in our lives we get caught up in the moment by moment details. Cell phones, IM, and instant access to anything anywhere have made us creatures of the moment. Last night we took an opportunity to pause and look back at the last year of our lives. Many people shared of how they have learned from situations they faced. The common theme was that as teenagers we tend to think things are a lot worse then they really are. We tend to focus too much on ourselves and not enough on others and by doing that we miss out. By the end of the night we had a pretty good idea of who we would like to become this year. We realize that it is a daily decision to be the person we want to become and not the person we are and that we can't do it alone.
We live in a culture that tells us to pull ourselves up, tuck in our shirt, and have it all together and the fact is, we don't. I guess that is why Campus Life is such a great place. It allows all of us to be who we really are and in the process talk about who we want to become. And the best part is, that we have leaders and other people to support us in those decisions. Because, left to ourselves, we would probably keep doing the same things over and over.
It's going to be an amazing year because I have people that love me that want to see the best in my life!
