Martin Luther King Jr. Speech on Serving

This is a portion of a speech that Martin Luther King Jr. did on Jesus' teaching on being a servant (Mark 10:35-45). The speech was called "The Drum Major Instinct." The title is based off the idea that we all have an internal desire to be first, to be out ahead, to be great, like a drum major. Dr. King says that these desires aren't bad, they just need to be used correctly. We can be first in love and justice.

On Monday night (1.17), Campus Life discussed how we can serve those around us and help meet the needs that are present in our community. We talked about how we can truly be great by being a servant.

If you are looking for ways to serve, join Campus Life this semester as we serve the community through our STRIVE workday, or join us on our Spring Break service trip in Chicago.
